Scarecrows on the Square, hosted by the Lisbon Beautification Committee, will be held Saturday. Registration is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with judging at noon and winners announced at 1 p.m. Live music at the Gazebo will be provided by Bill Crawford from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Chester American Legion Post 121 is hosting a bingo, raffle and silent auction from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the post home on Carolina Avenue. Funds will go toward medical expenses for Stephanie Emmerling, injured from a horse riding accident. Bingo packets are $25. The event is open to the public. Co-sponsors are the Sons of Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Post 121.

Winona United Methodist Church, 32114 Winona Road, will host its next “Cook’s Night Off” drive-thru dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out Oct. 5. The menu will include chicken roll-ups (similar to chicken stuffed shells), buttered parsley potatoes, green beans, and butter brickle cake for $10. Dinners can be pre-ordered anytime before noon that day by calling the church office at 330-222-1211. Pre-ordered dinners must be picked up by 6 p.m.

Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC) Adult Career Center will host an open interviewing event from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 12. Applicants should come ready to interview with a printed resume in hand. Open instructor positions include welding, automotive technology, special interest and Human Resources SHRM. In addition, MCCTC Adult Career Center is adding to Special Interest class offerings. Special Interest instructors can be anyone with a special skill or hobby that loves to teach others. Candidates are invited to bring a resume and an idea for a course to the Open Interview event. Classes can be anything from refinishing furniture, Cricut instruction, self-defense and more. Salem Public Library will host a Tarot program at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5. Learn how to read the cards and explore their meanings, and practice using own cards. Registration is required and can be done online at www.salempubliclibrary.org or by calling the library at 330-332-0042 for registration assistance. This program is free of cost and open to the public.

Play Mahjong at Salem Public Library from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday in the Reading Room. Beginner and intermediate players all welcome. No registration is required, this program is open to the public and free of cost.

NDC Heating & Cooling is conducting a Fall Furnace Giveaway for a community member in need. To apply for the giveaway, fill out a survey at https://my.forms.app/form/63207c2bafe7f34ef896f58d now through 8 a.m. Oct. 14. A winner will be randomly selected in mid October, with installation at the end of October to mid November. The giveaway is in appreciation for the community’s support the past 16 years.

The East Palestine Water Department will be flushing hydrants the week of Oct. 10. Residents will experience low pressure/discolored water throughout the week.

New Garden UMC, 7165 state Route 9, will hold its rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 and 14 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15. Pizza Hut pizza will be available from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 13. The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center (CCCTC) will be hosting the second annual middle school career exploration event from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 6 at the CCCTC, 9364 state Route 45, Lisbon. All middle school students in grades 6 to 8 from Columbiana County are invited to come to the relaxed, open house style event. Students will be introduced to the different career paths available to them as they enter their junior year of high school. This is a hands-on event where students accompanied by their parents or guardians can move about the building freely and visit up to 12 career path labs available for enrollment. This event is intended to be an introduction to what the CCCTC has to offer. In each lab setting, the visitors will meet the lab instructor, exemplary students currently enrolled in the career path, and will get hands-on experiences through different activities that are a part of the high school course. Fairfield Township will hold a fall clean-up from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 7 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 8. Items that will be accepted include car and light truck tires, limit of10 per household; large household items; scrap metals. Items that will not be accepted include electronics, items with freon and paint or chemicals.
